Dubuque, IA – The Fighting Saints have signed 2026 Phase I selection Porter Matchett to a Standard Player Development Agreement. 

The Saints selected Matchett, a New York, New York native, in the fifth round of the Phase I Draft in May. The 6-3, 205 forward made his preseason debut last weekend for Dubuque.

"We're excited to welcome Porter to the Fighting Saints," said general manager Trevor Edwards. "He's a talented young player with significant upside, but what gives us the most confidence in his ability to take this next step is his character and work ethic. Porter understands that adjusting to the USHL level will be a challenge, and we believe he has the mindset, competitiveness and commitment to development necessary to embrace that challenge and continue to grow within our organization."

The forward spent last season on the Woodbridge 15U AAA team, scoring 24 goals and 49 points in 65 games. 

Matchett is set to become the youngest player in Dubuque Fighting Saints history, born on Dec. 31, 2010. Gavin Cornforth, in 2022-23, is the last 15-year-old skater for the Fighting Saints.

"We're pumped to have Porter as part of our team," said head coach Evan Dixon. "He is a Fighting Saint, and we know he will positively contribute to our environment both on and off the ice."

The Fighting Saints open the regular season on Thursday against the Lincoln Stars at the USHL Fall Classic.
