Cedar Rapids, IA – The Dubuque Fighting Saints fell in preseason action 3-1 to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Friday night.
Dubuque fell behind 3-0 in the opening period on Friday night as Cedar Rapids scored three times in under four minutes just past the halfway point of the period. A Nate Chorlton power-play goal was the middle marker, with Ruben Westerling and Luke McPherson goals coming in the opening period.
The Saints answered late in the first period with Trevor Theuer's first of the preseason. Travis Lefere and Mark Evans assisted for their first points of the preseason.
In the loss, Dubuque failed to score on a pair of power-play chances and stopped three of four Rider power plays.
Luke Carrithers finished the night with 20 saves on 23 shots, while Brandon Wright stopped all five shots he faced.
Dubuque returns home on Saturday to finish the preseason against the RoughRiders.
