Fighting Five: Saints Open Weekend with Musketeers

Dubuque Hosts Sioux City on Friday Night

Dubuque, IA – The Dubuque Fighting Saints (4-6-0-0, 8 pts) host the Sioux City Musketeers (4-5-0-0, 8 pts) on Friday night to begin a weekend series at ImOn Arena.

Here are five things to know ahead of the matchup:

1. Saints Special

The Fighting Saints more than doubled their power-play output for the season in last weekend's series against the NTDP, scoring six power-play goals in three games. Entering the weekend, the Saints had scored five power-play goals in their first seven games.

Dubuque scored six times on 12 chances in three games against the NTDP last week. Caden Dabrowski scored a pair of power-play goals last Friday, while Luke Brierley, Olle Därth, Melvin Ekman and Max Lind also scored power-play goals on the road trip.

2. Raucous Return

Luke Brierley returned to the lineup after missing six games and logged four points from the Saints blue line last weekend. Brierley's power-play goal came just seven seconds into the first power-play chance for Dubuque last weekend.

Brierley recorded four points in a three-game span for the first time in his USHL career last weekend, recording three of his four points on the power play.

3. Därth Delivers

Saints forward Olle Därth earned USHL Forward of the Week honors with a seven-point weekend against the NTDP. In Saturday's game against the Under-18s, Därth recorded a season-high four points with two goals and two assists.

On Sunday, Därth added a trio of assists in a 6-3 victory over the Under-17s. Därth announced his Division I commitment to the University of Maine this week.

4. Back in Black

The Saints will wear their black alternate uniforms for the first time this season on Friday night against Sioux City. Last season, Dubuque wore the black alternates five times and won four of those matchups.

Two of the wins came in overtime as Teo Besnier debuted the jerseys with an overtime winner on Nov. 14, 2025 against Tri-City. On March 20, Michael Barron completed a late comeback against Green Bay with an overtime tally in a 4-3 win over the Gamblers.

5. Husky Muskies

Sioux City has recorded the second-most penalty minutes in the USHL at 290 and has faced the third-most penalty kills at 44 in the USHL. The Musketeers have an 81.8% penalty kill this season and are tied for the league-lead with three shorthanded goals.

The Musketeers enter the weekend after an overtime win in Lincoln on Saturday night. Sioux City has won both of its road games so far this season, taking down Sioux Falls and Lincoln away from home.

Glow Night presented by Peace Nutrition begins at 7:05 p.m. CT. Tickets are available here. The game will be available on Eagle 102.3 and FloHockey.
