Chicago, IL – The Dubuque Fighting Saints continue their preseason schedule on Friday when they visit the Chicago Steel.
Here are five things to know ahead of the matchup:
1. Starting Strong
Dubuque opened the preseason with a victory on Thursday night against Chicago, led by Max Lind's three points. Lind scored twice and assisted for Dubuque in the 4-1 win on home ice.
The Saints scored twice in the opening period and twice in the third, including an empty-netter from captain Melvin Ekman.
2. Big Blocker
Brandon Wright made 23 saves on 24 shots in the preseason opener on Thursday. In his first USHL action, Wright made all 11 saves in the opening period, helping the Saints to the win.
Luke Carrithers and Tomass Rutulis round out the goaltending group in the preseason for the Fighting Saints.
3. Swedish Spark
All four goals on Thursday were scored by Swedish forwards for the Fighting Saints. In addition to Lind's pair of goals, Olle Därth and Ekman each tallied for the Fighting Saints.
Swedish players combined for seven points for the Fighting Saints in the preseason opener. Ekman, Därth and Lind each recorded multiple points in the win.
4. Road Rundown
In 2025-26, Dubuque logged a road record of 17-10-3-0 away from ImOn Arena. Dubuque will make its first trip to the new USG Arena in Chicago for Friday's matchup.
In the last three seasons, the Fighting Saints have a .644 winning percentage on the road and a .678 points percentage away from ImOn Arena.
5. Steel Slips
The Steel will host their first game in the new USG Arena on Friday night. In Thursday's loss to Dubuque, Brian McFadden scored the lone goal for the Steel.
Alex Wang made seven saves on nine shots in Thursday's game, while Oliver Kanat stopped nine of 10.
