Dubuque Fighting Saints

Jacob Semik serves as Associate Coach of the Dubuque Fighting Saints after being promoted to the position prior to the 2026–27 season. Semik originally returned to Dubuque as an assistant coach in 2024 following the conclusion of his professional playing career.

In his first two seasons behind the Saints bench, Semik took on significant responsibility with the team’s defensemen and penalty kill while establishing himself as an important part of the organization’s player development program. During the 2025–26 season, Dubuque's penalty kill finished fifth in the USHL at 81.5 percent and tied for the league lead with 10 shorthanded goals.

Semik’s connection to the Fighting Saints began as a player. From 2016 through 2019, he appeared in 150 games on the Dubuque blue line, recording nine goals and 46 points while serving as an alternate captain during his final season.

Following his USHL career, Semik played four seasons at Arizona State University, appearing in 134 games and serving as an alternate captain during his final two seasons. He then played professionally with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL before transitioning into coaching.

His experience as both a former Fighting Saint and professional player provides Semik with a valuable perspective in developing young players and preparing them for the demands of college and professional hockey.
