Chicago, IL – The Dubuque Fighting Saints scored the final two goals in a 3-2 loss on Friday, but could not overcome a 3-0 deficit to the Chicago Steel.

Dubuque's first goal of the night came late in the second period to cut Chicago's lead to 3-1. Arsienii Voroteliak scored his first goal of the preseason at 16:10 of the second period after a strong backchecking play. Voroteliak worked the puck free before Joey Kotzian and Beau Christy set him up for a short-side wrist shot to put the Saints on the board.

Late in the third, Dubuque capitalized on a double-minor power play with Joseph Covelluzzi's first preseason goal. Jack Larkin and Trevor Theuer set him up after working a puck free below the net.

Overall, the Saints finished the night with the lone power-play goal on four chances and killed the only penalty they faced. 

Tomass Rutulis allowed all three goals in the first 26 minutes, but made every save the rest of the game. Rutulis finished the game with 25 saves on 28 shots

Dubuque had 28 shots on goal, with Stepan Houdek stopping all 16 he faced and Alex Wang stopped 10 of 12 Saints shots.

The Saints split the opening weekend of the preseason with the Steel and have two exhibition contests remaining next weekend against Cedar Rapids.
