DUBUQUE, IA - The Fighting Saints have acquired goaltender Dylan Johnson from the North American Hockey League's North Iowa Bulls.
In exchange for cash considerations, the Saints add a goaltender who has been effective at the Tier II level over the past two seasons. Last season, in eight games for the Robertson Cup champion Oklahoma Warriors, Johnson logged a .914 save percentage, six wins and two shutouts.
This season, with North Iowa, the Dallas, Texas native has consistently faced enormous pressure from opposing teams. Averaging over 40 shots faced per game in 14 contests for the Bulls, Johnson has stopped pucks at a .920 rate.
"We appreciate North Iowa working with us and being in support of player advancement," said Saints general manager Kalle Larsson. "We are excited to add Dylan to our roster. He's a competitive person who has played excellently in the NAHL."
Johnson stands at 6-2, 196 as a 2005-birth year goaltender. He began his youth career playing for the Dallas Stars 13 and 14U squads before playing 16U AAA for the Sioux Falls Power.
Johnson is expected to join the Fighting Saints in his hometown for the Frosty Cup this week.
