DUBUQUE, IA - Fighting Saints forward Nick Romeo has announced his college commitment to play in Hockey East for the UMass Lowell River Hawks.

Romeo was acquired at the start of November in a trade with the North American Hockey League's Maine Nordiques. After scoring 13 goals in 15 games as Maine's captain, Romeo made his Dubuque debut in Fargo on Nov. 3.

Romeo burst onto the scoresheet for the Saints in his fifth game for the team. On Nov. 17 at Waterloo, Romeo scored twice with a highlight-reel goal and the game-winner late in the third period. 

With goals in all three games before the holiday break, Romeo brought his season total to eight goals. Starting with the Nov. 17 game in Waterloo, Romeo has all eight of his goals over the last 11 contests. The forward from Clarkstown, New York has scored in four of the last five Saints games and has a total of nine points this season.

Two of Romeo's three tallies before the break came on the power play, including his overtime game-winner against Sioux City on Dec. 14.

Romeo is the fifth current Saint's player to commit to play in Hockey East.
