DUBUQUE, IA - For the second-consecutive week, Fighting Saints goaltender Kevin Reidler has been named USHL Goaltender of the Week.
Reidler was dominant again for Dubuque, recording a pair of wins for the first time in a single weekend this season. In Friday's win, Reidler blanked Green Bay with 21 saves for his first-career shutout. He backed up the shutout on Saturday with 30 saves on 33 shots to finish a sweep of the Gamblers.
"It was another great weekend by Kevin to help us get a couple wins," said head coach Kirk MacDonald. "He has been working extremely hard every day and it shows. He made some really timely saves for us on Saturday."
Reidler held a 1-0 lead intact for the Saints late in the first period on Saturday with a remarkable glove save on a Green Bay chance from in close.
Reidler has now won three-straight starts and the team has earned a point in all five of his games. This weekend, Reidler recorded a .944 save percentage to continue his hot stretch.
In a span of three games from Sept. 30 at Cedar Rapids until Saturday in Green Bay, Reidler posted a consecutive shutout streak of 135:23. It is the second-longest shutout streak in modern franchise history behind Marcus Brännman's 142:41 streak last season.
"If we continue our great effort and preparation, we will continue to have success," Reidler said. "We know we can keep getting points if we are prepared for each game. This honor keeps motivating me to continue to get better."
So far this season, Reidler is one of two goaltenders in the USHL to play in five games. His .910 save percentage is fifth among all goaltenders with three-or-more appearances.
Reidler and the Fighting Saints return home this weekend for a pair of games against Western Conference opponents on Friday against Omaha and Saturday against Fargo.
