DUBUQUE, IA - The Dubuque Fighting Saints have acquired forward Nick Romeo from the Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League in exchange for future considerations. Romeo has been added to the Fighting Saints' active roster.
Romeo joins the Fighting Saints after a scorching start to his junior career in Maine this season. The New City, New York native torched opponents for 13 goals and 21 points in the first 15 games of his junior career in the NAHL.
"We appreciate the Maine Nordiques supporting player movement upwards," said Saints general manager Kalle Larsson. "They were professional and supportive of this transaction, and we want to thank them for that. In Nick Romeo, we are acquiring a good skating playmaker who also has the ability to finish. He has been producing at a high pace in the NAHL and we hope he can provide additional depth to our offense."
Prior to his time in the NAHL, Romeo tallied 54 goals and 102 points for Clarkstown High last season. Romeo served as team captain to start this season in Maine as well.
The 2005 left-shot forward believes he can contribute to the Saints league-best offense.
"I'm super excited to be joining this organization and the boys in Dubuque," said Romeo. "They're having a fantastic start to the year and I'm ready to come in and join this team.
I feel I'll bring a good offensive, playmaking game to contribute to this hot offensive group."
To clear room on the roster for Romeo, the Saints placed forward Liam Gilmartin on waivers.
