DUBUQUE, IA - After leading the Fighting Saints to three of four points last weekend, Kevin Reidler has been named USHL Goaltender of the Week.

Reidler earned his first-career USHL victory on Saturday, stopping 22 of 23 shots against Cedar Rapids. In the 4-1 win, Reidler faced just five first-period shots. However, three of them were high-quality chances that he stopped to allow the Saints to jump to a 2-0 lead in the second. He stopped two breakaways in the opening period, including one just 90 seconds into the game.

"Congrats to Kevin on the recognition of a great weekend," said head coach Kirk MacDonald. "He kept us in the game Friday night after a slow start. Then on Saturday in Cedar Rapids, he made some timely saves to preserve the lead in a building that's always tough to play in."

Although the Saints dropped Friday's contest in a shootout, Reidler was a big reason Dubuque survived that slow start and earned a point. He was busy on Friday against Waterloo, stopping 34 of 38 shots he faced. Fourteen of those shots came in the first period, before he faced another 10 in the second. Reidler kept the Saints' one-goal lead intact late in the second with a glove save.

"It feels great to be recognized for all the hard work and it gives me motivation to keep going," said Reidler. "We knew before this weekend that we had the ability to earn some points and we executed because of our effort and preparation."

Reidler has played three of the four contests for Dubuque this season and has faced nearly 40 shots in two of them. The 6-6 goaltender from Sweden helped Dubuque to a point in both of those games, eventually dropping an overtime game to USA and a shootout to Waterloo. In total, Reidler has made 87 saves through three appearances this season.

Dubuque is back in action this weekend with a home-and-home against Green Bay. The Saints host the Gamblers on Friday before heading to Green Bay Saturday.
