DUBUQUE, IA - The Dubuque Fighting Saints (5-0-1-1, 12 pts) added to their league-leading offense with a 7-3 win over the Omaha Lancers (0-5-0-0, 0 pts) on Friday night.
Dubuque opened up its two-game home weekend with seven more goals to lift their season total to 41. Michael Barron led the way with two tallies, including a short-handed breakaway goal early in the first to put Dubuque up 2-0.
The Saints jumped out to a 4-0 lead with their best first-period output of the season. After one period, the Saints led 5-1 and coasted the rest of the way. Dubuque opened the scoring with Lucas St. Louis' first of the season on the power play. The Saints have scored a power-play goal in all seven games so far this season to lead the league with a 43.3% conversion rate.
Thatcher Bernstein made his first start since an 8-3 win on Sept. 24 against Muskegon. He made 27 of 30 stops in his second win of the season.
Juraj Pekarcik recorded a season-high three points on three assists in the win, while James Reeder recorded a multi-point game in the win. Colin Frank and Charlie Arend added goals for Dubuque in the four-goal victory.
The Fighting Saints are back in action on Saturday at home against the defending Western Conference Champion Fargo Force. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. CST at ImOn Arena.
