To become compliant, the Saints transferred Luke Malbouf (D) and Michael Barron (F) to the affiliate list, released Gunnar Thoreson (F), Colby Woogk (D) and Ethan Dahlmeir (G), and traded William Renfrew (F). Forward Gavin Cornforth was added to the 25-man roster from the Saints affiliate list. Renfrew was dealt to Muskegon for a draft pick in the 2023 Phase II draft.
The final 25-man roster features 15 forwards, eight defensemen, and two goalies. Returning from last years roster are nine Saints, seven of which played in three or more games. Max Montes leads the way for returning forwards with 32 points from a year ago. He's joined by Riley Stuart, Shawn O'Donnell, Michael Burchill, and Cole Helm. On the blue-line, Max Burkholder returns to Dubuque for a third season, while Lucas St. Louis and Fisher Scott, both of whom played in two games each last year for the Saints, make up the familiar faces.
Paxton Geisel figures to be the leading goaltender for the Saints this season. Geisel is coming off a suberb rookie campaign where he was named to the USHL All-Rookie team and earned 25 wins. In tandem with him, Marcus Brännman is the other goaltender on the Saints 25-man roster. Brännman is coming off a pair of strong preseason appearances stopping 53 of 55 shots on goal in 104 minutes of play.
Brännamn is joined by a trio of fellow Swedes. Nils Juntorp and Oliver Moberg both made the 25-man roster as apart of the 15 forwards, while Theo Wallberg represents the country on the back end.
